Reading: John 15: 1-11
"Every branch in me that bears no fruit, he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit." (John 15: 2)
In each vineyard, a vineyard caretaker cut twigs vine to produce more fruit. In a spiritual sense, sometimes heavenly Father we must treat us the same way, ie cut our lives. Not only dead branches that must be removed, but sometimes even that is still alive and important matter must be removed in order to produce better fruit and dense.A variety of circumstances can be a knife trimmer in the hands of Mr. Own Vineyard. The knife can be a gesture of rejection, the words are not friendly, or even without words. It could be a frustration of constantly living in the noise and confusion, face a daily task, so it does not have a chance to find a quiet place to be alone. Or perhaps while waiting for the intervention of God when it seemed there was no hope at all and we did not have any friends who can help. However, the cutting blade is controlled by a pair of loving hands. Mr. Vineyard owners know what we can get and He knows that we will be more loving, joyful, peaceful, tolerant, kind, trustworthy, gentle, confident - stronger and better than our present circumstances. We do not need to avoid the knife, but trust the hand that holds it. Our Father in heaven has one goal, which is to produce good fruit in us --David Roper
